Greely Shines at the Maine State Track & Field Finals

Greely Shines at the Maine State Track & Field Finals

The Greely High School boys and girls excelled this past weekend at the Maine State Track & Field Final Championship in Augusta.  The day began with impressive first place wins in both the girls and boys 4x800 relays.  Greely highlights included dominance in the boys and girls field events, with first place standings in the men's high jump, shot put and discus, along with the girls' discus.   The final cumulative meet results ended with the Greely boys finishing third overall, and the girls placing fourth.  Many of the Greely competitors have now qualified to compete in next weekend's New England Regional Meet in Burlington, VT.

I know, I know, you’re here to read about cars; but sometimes we need to drift from the hardware, to the habits.  People express themselves through their vehicles.  Stereotypes abound: rednecks drive pick-ups, blondes cruise in convertibles, and soccer moms haul it all in the mini-van.  Drivers can be who they want to be through their wheels.  To each their own!  However, there is one area that I just plain do not understand.  What’s up with the dangling debris hanging from rear view mirrors?

My exhaustive research has turned up everything from the traditional air fresheners, to the clichéd tumbling dice.  The list includes prayer beads and Mardi Gras beads, St.

The spring sky is filled with familiar constellations and some spectacular deep sky objects. Unfortunately, most people do not know the rich background associated with the spring constellations. A group of GHS seniors are holding a community stargazing night at Twinbrooks at 8:00 on the 3rd of June for anyone who wishes to discover more about the constellations and deep sky objects (Nebula, Globular clusters, Galaxies). There will be telescopes available and many opportunities to engage with the students in discussion of the sky and spring constellations. This is a all ages event and families are highly encouraged to show up.

Greely Tennis Loss

Greely Tennis Loss

Greely lost today against Cape in our earlier game. The courts were slick, and many people weren't on their game. One of our players' back was hurting. The score was 2-3 and Cape won. This was our last match before playoffs, we may be in them. Here's to hoping!
