Music from The High Spirits

THE HIGH SPIRITS

The High Spirits are a Portland based duo that play country soul. Their sound is founded in American music from Etta James to Motown to Nashville. The High Spirits will be performing at White Nights 2014 in Freeport on Saturday, January 25th from 5:30 to 10. White Nights 2014 is a fundraiser for Freeport Community Services.

Fifth Quarter Friday: Jan. 3

NEWS CENTER - Even with the most recent snow storm, Fifth Quarter Friday had highlights from eight games across the state.  Here are all the finals and postponements.

Donations pour in for Freeport fire victims

FREEPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Donations have been pouring in to help a Freeport couple, whose mobile home went up in flames on Christmas Eve.

The fire broke out in the bedroom of this mobile home located off of Staples Point Road, near Winslow Memorial Park.
Homeowner Richard Peacock was taking a nap but woke up when the smoke alarm went off, he was able get out safely with his dog.

A few hours later, he began to experience chest pains and had to be admitted to Maine Medical Center.

The 66-year-old Navy veteran has a history of heart problems but doctors found no major issues with his heart.
Since the fire there has been an outpouring from the community.

The couple, who have fire insurance have a temporary place to live while their home is rebuilt.

The town of Freeport is donating oil and furniture, local businesses are volunteering their time and donating gift cards.

Voters in Freeport decide to leave RSU 5

FREEPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- In a special election Tuesday night Freeport voters have decided to leave RSU 5 which includes Durham and Pownal.

A group called Move Freeport Forward organized the effort to withdraw from the district, saying the three towns have not been able to approve a budget collectively.

The final tally was 953 Yes and 768 No.
