Firefighters battle Falmouth blaze | News
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
FALMOUTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Firefighters had a tough time with a fire on Gray Road Tuesday evening.
When crews arrived flames were already showing through the roof of the old farmhouse. Fire Chief Howard Rice said crews were unable to surround the house because of the way the house sits off the main road. Soon after they arrived to the scene the roof began collapsing.
"When we first arrived we didn't know if anyone was home," Howard said. "There was a car in the yard, so we tried to make a quick search. We noticed the roof starting to collapse so we got everyone outside. The homeowner arrived a half hour later. He did have a cat inside which we didn't find, but the homeowner was out and he's safe."
Firefighters from four towns came to help out.
