Pedestrian hit crossing the street during Freeport Flag Ladies event | News
FREEPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A pedestrian was hit while crossing the street during the Freeport Flag Lady event Tuesday morning.
According to the Press Herald, the victim, Rhoda O'Leary, who appeared to be elderly but whose age was not immediately available, was crossing School Street at the intersection with Main Street when she was hit by an SUV that was turning onto School Street. The newspaper reports O'Leary was knocked back and hit her head on the pavement. She was taken away by an ambulance. Maine Medical staff say the woman is in serious condition.
According to our reporter on scene, it was another woman in a large black SUV that struck the older woman. She was visibly shaken by what had happened.
