Mainers celebrate Social Media Day (#SMDayME)
News

FALMOUTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Lovers of social media, and those who want to learn more about it, partied in Falmouth Monday for Social Media Day Maine.

5 years ago, the digital news site Mashable declared June 30 to be Global Social Media Day, and there have been parties in cities around the globe ever since.

Monday was Maine's first large-scale celebration, hosted by the events management company TideSmart Global. Those who came enjoyed food truck cuisine and the band. They also heard from 3 speakers about how to get the biggest bang for their social media buck.

TideSmart digital media manager Jennifer MacDonald said, "I think coming to learn and research and network will help people understand the benefits and how to use it properly and get the results they're looking for."

The event was sold out. You can see all the selfies and other posts about it by searching #SMDayME on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
