One person dead after industrial accident in Freeport

FREEPORT, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- UPDATE - 3:35PM - Freeport Police have identified the man killed in a Tuesday morning industrial accident as Scott W. MacDonald, 59 years old, of Limington.

Officials say 3 employees of Coastal Landscape, Construction and Snow Services were working on granite steps at 140 Main Street in Freeport. The address houses Tuscan Bistro, Subway and Olympia Sports.

Police say MacDonald was assisting the operator of a Bobcat Skid Steer Loader that was moving a large granite step. Police say MacDonald and the operator were attempting to remove the loaders door when the forks of the loader dropped, crushing MacDonald.

Officials say MacDonald was killed instantly.

ORIGINAL - An industrial accident killed one worker and injured two others Tuesday in Freeport.

The accident occurred at 140 Main Street where Coastal Landscaping was installing granite steps. Firefighters said an OSHA investigator will investigate the cause.

The two injured people have been treated and released.
