  Are you interested in Nursing and what it was like in the days gone by? During July the Falmouth Heritage Museum will have a display of nursing memorabilia including clothing, invalid feeders, bed pans and many other items used by the nurses of old. Do you know what it was like to ‘attend’ a mail order school of nursing?   And identify the month's WHAT IS IT? One winner will be drawn from all the correct answers and receive a Family Membership to the Falmouth Historical Society.

WinterKids appoints new Executive Director

WinterKids, the non-profit organization that helps children develop healthy lifelong habits through fun, outdoor winter activity, today announced the appointment of its new executive director, Julie D. Mulkern. Mulkern, who served as WinterKids' development director since September 2008, brings 12 years of professional non-profit experience to the organization, including resource development, program development, and staff and volunteer management in the public health sector.

"We are very pleased to welcome Julie to the executive director post," said Anna Fincke, president of the WinterKids board of directors. "Her creative vision, compassion and experience will shape and expand WinterKids in exciting ways, and guide our efforts to get more kids outside and active in winter.

Unprecedented Collaboration to Address Underage Drinking & Illegal Drug Use in the Casco Bay Region

WHAT:  Freeport – For the first time, law enforcement agencies in the Casco Bay region will join efforts to host a multi–jurisdictional response to underage drinking and illegal drug use by hosting an anonymous tip line.  The tip line will be available starting on June 20th for community members in the towns of Falmouth, Freeport, Yarmouth, North Yarmouth, Pownal and Cumberland.
 
Mobile phone users now have the ability to provide tips about underage drinking or illegal drug use through the power of anonymous text messaging and online web tips.  The tip line is sponsored in collaboration with Casco Bay CAN and local law enforcement agencies. 
 
Join Lt. John Kilbride, Falmouth Police Department and Beth Blakeman-Pohl, Drug Free Communities Coordinator to find out more about the anonymous tip line and the coordinated efforts of the five law enforcement agencies working together to prevent underage drinking and illegal drug use.

This Saturday, June 18th, at 2:00PM the Maine Bikram Yoga Studio located off of Dartmouth Street in Portland will be starting their Community Donation class. For a minumum CASH donation of $5 you will be able to take an amazing 90 minute full body workout and the best part? All of the monies collected from tomorrow [June 18th] thru July 31st will be donated to the Center For Grieving Children. This donation class will ONLY be on Saturday's at 2:00PM!

Bikram Yoga is a system of yoga that Bikram Choudhury synthesized from traditional yoga techniques and popularized beginning in the early 1970s. The classes run exactly 90 minutes and consist of a set series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises.
