Yarmouth's First Universalist Church will hold Yarmouth's first ever Clam Drop on New Year's Eve. The Clam Drop will be similar to the ball lowering at Time Square in New York City. Steamer, Yarmouth's Clam Festival mascot will be lowered from the belfry of the First Universalist Church, 97 Main Street, at the stroke of midnight.
An earlier lowering will be held at 7:00 P.M. (mid-night Greenwich Mean Time) for families with children.
The event is open to the public, and all are welcome. There will be music, hot cocoa, cookies and a remembrance of Ken Nye, who was a greatly loved member of First Universalist and a prime supporter in the church's steeple renovation.
