Back to the Track Celebration features the $25K Mid-Summer Classic Invitational

Harness race tracks across North America will be participating in Back to the Track festivities this weekend, sponsored by the United States Trotting Association, where fans are invited back to their favorite harness racing venue to enjoy a day of harness racing excitement and fan activities. Scarborough Downs celebrates on Sunday, July 15th with a host of events and premier racing, including the return of the $25,000 Mid-Summer Classic Invitational, where Maine’s top pacers will compete for big prize money. Sunday post time is 1:05 pm.

"We’re thrilled to bring back the Mid-Summer Classic," said track announcer, Mike Sweeney, "and we couldn't be happier with the field - eight quality horses from top to bottom with no throw outs in sight.

I was once an x-ray tech at Maine Medical Center. I didn’t have x-ray vision, but I was skilled at aiming a beam of radiation at the appropriate body part. When I first started my training, we developed the x-rays by hand. I still remember the smell of the chemicals in the darkroom. It was a big deal when we switched to automatic processing, but we’d still have to go into the darkroom to unload the film from the cassette and feed it into the processor. Patient’s x-rays were kept in large brown envelopes in the radiology department’s file room. When space got tight old films were carted off to a storeroom someplace else in the hospital.
