The Paving of Route 88 is Underway

The Town of Cumberland has posted the following:

Beginning Monday, June 20th at 7 AM the first coat of paving will be placed on Route 88 - The Foreside Road. The Paving will begin at the Falmouth Town Line heading North and will end within 2000' of the Yarmouth Town Line.

This coat of paving will level out the imperfections in the current roadway surface (will cover up at the patchwork of repairs to date). It also is referred to as the Shim coat of pavement.

This paving is expected to end by Friday, June 24th at 5 PM or possibly sooner depending upon weather (surface must be dry).

Delays of up to 10 -15 minutes can be expected throughout the day in multiple work areas.  Paving each day will end sometime between 6 PM and 8 PM. Residents  on side streets may expect a short delay until the train of finish paver rollers have passed the street. Flaggers will be directing traffic throughout the Paving zone.

THIS IS NOT the final coat of pavement. Once the shim is inspected and any additional defects are repaired the final surface will be scheduled. Due to rain in May , we expect the final paving to be laid by mid to late August.

Please contact Chris Bolduc, Director of Public Services if you have any additional questions (cbolduc@cumberlandmaine.com) or  829-2220.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout the project!
