GRITTY MCDUFF’S SPONSORING 2011 BICYCLE COALITION OF MAINE’S ANNUAL WOMEN’S RIDE ON JUNE 5

Portland, Maine – Gritty McDuff’s Brewing Company announced today that it will be a sponsor to the 2011 Bicycle Coalition of Maine’s 10th annual Women’s ride on June 5.  The ride will begin at L.L. Bean’s Casco Conference Center in Freeport, Maine, and will follow quiet routes with beautiful views of both the Maine coast and countryside.

Following the ride, participants will head to Gritty’s Freeport location, where the pub will host a special party with music, complimentary appetizers, light picnic-type snacks and beer specials for the participants.

“Cycling has always been an important aspect of Gritty’s, as our cycling team trains throughout the year for events that include the Dempsey Challenge and the Trek Across Maine,” said Thomas Wilson, Marketing Director for Gritty McDuff’s.  “This will be our first women’s only ride that we’ve sponsored, so we couldn’t be happier to lend our support.”

The Bicycle Coalition expects between 300 and 500 women to participate in the event this year.  Women of all ages are encouraged to participate.  Riders can choose from four distance options: five, 15, 25 or 50 miles.  After the ride, participants will convene at the Casco Conference Center where they will be able to practice yoga, receive a complimentary massage and hear a performance by the Blueberry Pancakes steel drum band.

Registration information for the ride is available at http://www.bikemaine.org/events/womensrideindex
