How to Eliminate Back Pain from Gardening or Yard Work

How to Eliminate Back Pain from Gardening or Yard Work

Summer yard work and gardening are great ways to spruce up your home, grow your own food, and spend time outdoors. The trouble is, while gardening or working in the yard, we usually work in bent over, unusual positions for prolonged periods of time and can wind up with back, neck, and shoulder pain when we are done. Dr. MacArthur and Dr. McNally of Portland Chiropractic Neurology offer these tips to help keep your body safe before planting and pulling weeds:

  • Stretch your muscles.

Movies: "Beginners"

Writer/director Mike Mills has only made one feature film before “Beginners”, a quirky little number called “Thumbsucker”, but along the way, this 35-year old California kid cranked out a number of short films, documentaries and music videos, including Moby’s ground-breaking “Play” video.

Pratt's Brook Park - A Gem in Yarmouth

Pratt's Brook Park - A Gem in Yarmouth

Last week, my team of canine hikers scouted out yet another fantastic locale for woods walking, stream swimming and generalized off-leash adventure!  They give “two paws way UP” to Pratt’s Brook Park in Yarmouth!

Located off North Road as you head away from Route One towards Cumberland, this 220-acre tract of preserved land offers over seven miles of walking trails.  The routes are well-marked and there are trail maps and a kiosk with information at the trail head.  The parking area is located well off the main road and has plenty of parking for up to 30 cars.  On the Friday afternoon that we enjoyed the park, we were the only car in the lot.

Polarity Therapy Part II

Polarity Therapy Part II

"The exceptional patient is the person who, despite their diagnosis, takes charge of their health and decides to be responsible to their illness or their condition and not necessarily feel responsible for it. One stance is drenched in blame and the other is full of power."— Christiane Northrup, MD

As a teacher and practitioner of Polarity Therapy, I am always reminding my students and myself that you must form a partnership with your clients.  The polarity practitioner holds a strong, safe container for their clients to explore what is in the way of well being.  And although we are very skilled in what we do, true healing for our clients cannot occur without commitment and a willingness to explore the root causes of tension, stress, dis-ease, being stuck, or lack of life-force (feeling like "ourselves").

Online to represent offline – 3 Quick Things with the Help of Miracle Max

I am a pretty big fan of internet marketing (and the Princess Bride), obviously. It is the most measurable form of marketing that there is. If I am giving up time, money and resources, I damn well want to know if it is doing any good moving the bottom line.
