Town & Country Launches Better Neighbor Fund Charitable Giving Campaign

$25,000 in grants will be distributed to local charitable and community organizations.

December 28, 2010 – South Portland, ME – Town & Country Federal Credit Union is announcing the launch of the Better Neighbor Fund, a new charitable giving campaign designed to support good works in the communities of Cumberland and York Counties.
During the months of November and December, local charitable, non-profit and community organizations have submitted their ideas and projects via an online grant application.   In January, supporters will vote online for their favorite organization, cause or project.
A total of $25,000 will be awarded through eight grants to the organization, cause or idea that receives the most votes.  There are three $5,000 grants and five $2,000 grants being awarded.  Visitors can vote for their favorite cause or idea by visiting the Town & Country Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/TownandCountryFCU or website at http://www.tcfcu.com/ beginning January 1st.
According to David Libby, Town & Country President & CEO, “We are inspired by the great deeds so many charitable and community organizations are doing across Southern Maine.  Town & Country developed the Better Neighbor Fund to help organizations doing good works in the community make their projects a reality.”
The Town & Country Better Neighbor Fund charitable giving campaign is being introduced in conjunction with the opening of the credit union’s sixth branch location at 426 Forest Avenue in Portland.  The branch is scheduled to open in January.  An additional $25,000 in grant moneys will be awarded in 2011.
