Project Linus - Blankets needed
Project Linus - Blankets needed

It’s hard to believe that it’s the end of January already.  The year 2010 is just a memory – and it’s amazing that for Project Linus of Cumberland County, we delivered a grand total of 1651 blankets!  Wow!  Thank you everyone for contributing.  So many children. . .

I expect that for 2011 we’ll need the same number of blankets and this is an ambitious effort.   As usual, quilts, afghans and fleece in all sizes are needed.  I’m always running low on larger blankets.

Accordingly, we’ve set a few blanket days for this new year:

Saturday, February 5 – Church of Latter Day Saints , Cape Elizabeth  Lunch provided
Contact Mandy Collins   233-1922

Saturday, February 5 – Chickadee Quilters, Bridgton Bring your lunch
Contact Beth Brown  699-9107

Saturday, February 19 - Prince Memorial Library, Cumberland Bring your lunch
Contact Jan Hamilton  829-2215

Monday, February 28 – St. Maximilian Kolbe, Scarborough Soup provided-bring a sandwich
Contact me 284-5606

Friday, March 11- St. Maximilian Kolbe, Scarborough Soup provided-bring a sandwich
Contact me 284-5606

Bring your unfinished Project Linus kits and blankets and we’ll work on them to get them finished.   Or start a new project.

Please bring 2 yards of new, unwashed flannel to donate and I’ll have already cut kits for you to finish.  It’s a simple pattern and easy to finish.  It quilts itself as you go along.       Call me with any questions as to what you should bring for tools.
These blanket days are lots of fun and for a great cause.  We need you to call and reserve your spot.  I hope you can join us.

Saturday, April 30, St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Scarborough
annual quilt show and studio sale.

This is our big fund raiser for the year and we need your help with:
Project Linus blankets for the show.  As supplies last, we’ll give you 3 fat quarters for each blanket you bring.

We’ll have voting for the best blanket in both the adult and children’s category.  Prizes!!!

We need fabric, books, patterns, notions and any craft materials you’d like to weed out of your collections.  Remember, ask me and I’ll give you a slip for a tax deduction.  Please contact me as soon as you can so we have time to get things sorted and priced for the sale.

This year there will be more demonstrations and a long list of vendors.

Mark your calendars now.  It will be a terrific day.
